We are excited to announce that our Secret Garden Guest Cottage, located across the street from The Minnis House, is now available for overnight lodging. The rate for the cottage is $169 per night plus taxes, A discount is given for parents and grandparents of current Carson Newman students and those coming to campus on prospective tours. We have received many requests for guest access to a kitchen and laundry, so we are happy to be able to offer this lodging option. Our area does not have a large selection of overnight home rentals, so we are delighted to offer the guest cottage to serve the needs of those traveling to East Tennessee.
During the nine-month renovation, we discovered the cottage is much older than its early 1900s outside appearance. Being completely remodeled with new metal roof, gutters, inside walls, hardwood and tile floors, energy efficient windows, Kraftmaid kitchen cabinetry, heating and air conditioning system, plumbing, electrical, Levolor wood blinds, bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets and appliances, it is completely furnished with our guests' comfort and convenience in mind. Having two bedrooms (one king bed and one queen bed), comfortable mattresses and bedding, a queen sofa bed and a rollaway bed, the cottage will sleep up to seven guests. For large groups, this brings our total sleeping capacity in both the Inn and the Cottage to 12 guests. The main bath includes a corner shower and a vintage cast iron soaking tub which the Minnis family added to their home sometime after 1910.
Guests staying in the cottage will be furnished with a starter supply of paper towels, toilet paper, Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods, dishwasher detergent, etc.
We do not allow smoking or pets in the cottage.
Well-behaved children, supervised by adults at all times, are welcome in both the cottage and the inn.
The Secret Garden Cottage gets its name from the famous children's book written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, whose first home in America was just a couple of blocks away.
